Today we’re talking to Amy Xu, who founded AX Media in 2019.

1. First, tell us about your company’s activities
AX Media started in 2019 with the aim of making the full-service video production service accessible and personalized from the idea to creation. We work personally with you and your brand or company. We usually work with brands to create stunning videos for marketing. We have also created music videos, event films and much more.

2. How did AX Media come about?
I have a passion for compelling storytelling, unique images, as well as representation and diversity in the media. I’m a creative storyteller and passionate about content creator, I have a bachelor’s degree in screen media, and I have a diverse background in digital software and writing for the creative industries. Right after graduating from university, I decided to realize my passion and dream with AX Media.
3. What are some of your key milestones and achievements?
Our customers are our greatest success. We have 21 satisfied customers, 27 completed projects and 372 hours of footage. Our better-known clients include Olympus Australia, the State of Library of NSW and Western Sydney University. Some of the most recent notable projects are:
- JM Coetzee (Nobel Prize Winner in Literature) at the NSW State Library
- Photos and event videography at the University of New England for a French literacy conference
- Production demonstration (produced with a quick turnaround) for Olympus Sciences
- Creating a music video for music artist Danae
4. What are your plans for the future?
We will strive to deliver our services to local communities and businesses and want them to discover the power of video production. We also want to make things easier for clients by implementing a streamlined process for all of our clients, regardless of whether they are individuals, companies or artists.

It is possible to love what you do and turn a passion project into a full time business. As Amy pointed out, starting your own business can be risky, but it’s a risk well worth taking. Providing a full service to customers is also related to retention, with customers coming back time and time again.
